Contributions from SMG’s gracious parishioners make a private, Catholic education possible for every interested student.
Catholic Education Arizona is a scholarship program offered to families in need who wish to have their child(ren) attend a Catholic school within the Diocese of Phoenix. This program can help cover up to 75 percent of tuition costs for qualifying SMG families. A fund is formed based off of tax credits primarily made by our gracious parishioners and school families. This program redirects your state tax obligation and has no cost to the contributor.
We are blessed to have such an active parish community that has allowed our school families to receive a significant reduction in kindergarten tuition fees. All SMG kindergarten students received a scholarship for the 2015-2016 school year.
We encourage our school families in need of financial help to apply for the CEA scholarship. Visit CatholicEducationArizona.org for more information.
Anyone can redirect their tax obligation to St. Maria Goretti Kindergarten through Catholic Education Arizona. If you owe money to the Arizona Department of Revenue for taxes, you can contribute at no cost. Your contribution will be a credit toward the taxes you owe (up to the limit allowed by state law - $1031 for individuals, $2062 for married filing jointly). For example, if you owe the state $1000 in taxes and you made a donation to CEA for $1000, your donation will be credited to your obligation, leaving a zero balance owed for state taxes. If you owe $1500 in taxes and you made a donation to CEA for $1000, your donation is credited towards your obligation and reduces your tax bill to $500. See the FAQ on CEA's site for more info.
